- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Dash of cinnamon
- Syrup (for serving)
- Cooking spray or butter (for the mug)
Tools
- Large microwave-safe mug
- Fork
- Small bowl
- Measuring spoons
- Hot pad
Let's Cook!
- Set up your station
- Prep the mug: Spray the inside with cooking spray or rub butter around with a paper towel. This stops sticking.
- Crack the egg into the small bowl. Pick out any shell pieces. Beat it with a fork until the yolk and white are completely mixed — about 30 seconds of fast stirring.
- Mix: Add milk, sugar, and cinnamon to the egg. Beat again until combined.
- Add bread: Tear the bread into small cubes (about dice-sized). Put them in the mug.
- Pour: Pour the egg mixture over the bread. Press the bread down with the fork so it soaks up the egg.
- Wait 1 minute — let the bread absorb the mixture
- Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute 30 seconds
- Check it: Use a hot pad to take the mug out. It should be puffed up and firm, not wet or jiggly. If still wet in the middle, microwave 15 more seconds.
- Let it cool for 1 minute — it's very hot inside!
- Drizzle with syrup and eat right out of the mug!
Pro Tips
- It puffs up in the microwave then sinks a little — that's totally normal
- Every microwave is different. If 1:30 isn't enough, try 1:45 next time.
- Add sliced strawberries or banana on top for extra flavor
